take that daddy!

kev finally felt our little lulabelle kick! he's been trying for quite awhile and while we were lounging on the couch watching a movie he decided he'd rather lay and he grabbed a pillow and stuck his head in my lap and let his big ole' feet hang off the armrest on the couch. a couple minutes past and then BAM! she kicked him right in the back of the head! it was so funny. he said, "was that her?" i said, "yep. it sure was." he said, "well, great. our relationship is starting out good. it outta' be an interesting 18 years, huh?"

hahahaha! two points for lula! :) apparently he must have been crowding her. :) i love it.

a big thanks to jenny and a little nursery teaser...

first things first - a big ole' thank you to jenny from the block for sucking it up and coming over to help paint the nursery. her and i blasted it out in only a few hours. and it looks fan-freakin-tastic! :) i'm very excited about the way everything is coming together.

above you will see our official baby nursery painting photo. :) oh, and don't worry - my dear hubs bought "special paint" for knocked up mamas. it's ok.

also - our crib showed up via fed ex on friday so jenny and i painted on friday, i made the necessary touch ups on saturday and kev put the crib together on sunday. it all looks awesome. we obviously still have a ton of work to do... but here's a little teaser of whats to come:

we used the semi-gloss paint (on advice from the man behind the paint counter at home depot who has 5 kids...) so it's a little shiny in the pics - it's not really that shiny in real life. and - the wood colors all match in real life... not sure why they all showed up totally different colors. lol.

also - kevin thought it'd be fun to take my 20 week picture for the belly book. i was looking a little rough - so forgive me. here it is anyway:

now you can tell, based on my expression, i know i'm lookin' rough... but i was also smiling... just a little bit because it makes me just so dang happy that kevin is as excited about my pregnancy and filling out the belly book and finding new places to take the pictures as i am. he's so awesome. :) i just love love LOVE me some kev... always. :) i'm so lucky. and sappy. :)

anyways... there it is friends. a little teaser. oh - and a final thought:

my big ole' boombie pretending to be baby while kev does his daddy duties. i seriously love this dog. he's my booooy!

it's a... (drumroll please!)

GIRL! sweet, sweet baby girl! can you even believe it?

i was convinced it was a little boy from the very moment i had my postive test. nope. leave it to me... 50/50 and i blew it! LOL! ahhh well, you win some, you lose some... we are so excited!

at the ultrasound we had the tech write the sex of the baby in an envelope and seal it up. we went to a "romantical" dinner and opened the envelope. i let kev open it... he opened it up and his eyes got real big... and he folded it back up and slid it across the table for me to look at. i said, "nooo... tell me!" he said, "just look!" i said, "you're killing me kev! just tell me." he goes, "ok... it's a girl." i seriously thought he was joking! but nope... sure enough! i just can't believe it! i love love LOVE looking at the foofy stuff... pinks, purples oh my!

here are some shots:

there she is... my sweet little baby girl's profile and little fingers.

here's her whole little body. she loves curling up. :)

mmk, this one is a little crazy. i said to the tech, "ohhhh no! is that normal? is she broken?" and the tech said, "nooo! completely normal. just remember this one when you think you are going to break her!" hmm... good advice. my little acrobat baby. stinkin adorable!

and last, but not least... my favorite! this one is of my little princess do da flexing her big strong baby muscles. eat your heart out! she's already got big ole' guns - just like her mama. i love it.

so... we're having a little girl. thank heaven for little girls. :)

we do have to have a follow-up ultrasound in a few weeks. towards the end of the ultrasound our little girl got the hiccups and the tech couldn't tell for sure if she just had the hiccups or an irregular heart beat. the tech got the doctor (which was scary... she left us in the room to think about all the what-if's) and he came and looked and said he wasn't sure either... but that we should have a follow-up. he said that even if she does have an irregular heart beat it's nothing to worry about as it's very common and usually fixes itself before the baby is even born. so, we're optimistic and praying for no heart issues.

me lovey my mamacita!

well friends, my mamacita came to the rescue and pulled me out of my glider blues. she saved the day! :)

above you will see a picture of my mommy rocker in my baby's room. that's right!that wonderful, beautiful, super comfy glider/ottoman combo is in my house right this second. all because my mommy loves me. :) oh how i do love being an only child providing mamacita with her very first granbaby. i couldn't have picked a better one myself. i'm so grateful to have such an awesome mama.

also - this weekend the eagles picked up a great big ole' win against the big dumb giants! woot woot! which means - they are headed to the NFC championship game against arizona (a team which i whole-heartedly believe they can beat) and then to the 'ship! kevin agreed that IF we are having a boy and the eagles win the superbowl we will name him talon and decorate his nursery with the eagles theme. cawwww cawwwwwwwwww! gooooooo eagles! ohhh yes, life is oh so good. :)

i've got the glider blues...

if you know me - you know i'm a bargain shopper. period.

that said... i've got the glider blues my friends. i have looked everywhere for a glider that was fairly priced and comfortable. i need something that will glide nicely and look fashionable in my nursery. i'm obviously more concerned with the smoothness in the glide than the look of it - but i, too, have standards.

i've looked on craigslist everyday. e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y. and nothing. granted - i still have time. i know. but i'm trying to get myself together while i have this burst of energy in my second trimester. i found something i'm in love with and it has stellar reviews... but it's stupid expensive.

who does best chairs think they are? this chair better be made of gold! the chair alone is $399 and the matching ottoman (that should be included in the $399 price dammit) is an additional $199. we're talking $600 worth of CHAIR! that's more than my nursery furniture (crib, dresser, rails) cost combined! bah.

ghastly chair. and it's makers. from now on all you people who are unmarried and getting married soon will be getting baby stuff from kevin and i as wedding presents. sure - you'll think it's strange at the time. but trust me friends... when it comes time to decorate your nursery you'll thank me. bwwhhaaa hahaha!

oh what's in a name?

well, we're stuck. we cannot agree on anything. let me just say that naming a baby is tough work. seriously.

we will find out if our little baby bean is a boy or a girl soon. my productivity at work has pretty much came to a stand still since i got my big fat positive pregnancy test as i spend much of my day looking at baby bedding, strollers and onesies. i'm obsessed. and since my world-o-baby has been wide open for the last 18 weeks i have to look at everything and have a game plan for both boy and girl themed nurseries, strollers, onesies. :) sooo, basically... what i'm saying is... this new exciting world is about to change. once i can focus in on one sex - my productivity will pick up and more importantly kevin and i can focus in on becoming serious about this naming business.

more about that: kevin and i have been racking our brains to come up with a cute nickname for this little baby in my belly. no such luck. we are so uncreative we've been calling the baby, well, "baby." great - i know. well, i take that back. we've come up with some doosies - including yivo (for reasons i cannot explain in public...), birdie, and we even switched the nickname on a weekly basis based on the baby's size (we started in week 9 - olive... and honestly it kind of stuck). so here we are, still calling our sweet potato sized baby olive. and that's nothing - that's just the nickname for our unborn gender not known baby... so you can see where this is leading for the real name.

so i've pretty much determined my dear sweet husband is unfit for naming our baby. the new nickname (to which he seriously calls our baby outloud and one time in public) is: (drumroll please)
peyote moose

great. you've got to be kidding me. peyote moose. super. LOLOL. holy hell. so - it is what it is. me and peyote moose hang out together all day - we're never alone, peyote moose and i. does it bring a visual image? how's this:

so - peyote is this psychoactive alkaloid used world wide as a recreational drug.
just one more reason i'm so lucky to have kevin. i bet you wish you had someone as colorful as him to name your baby. oh how i do love me some kevin.
well - i suppose that's all for now. that and just so you know - we don't have any "real" names. back to the drawing board as the "x" in jaxon makes it "too kung-foo-ish" for kevin and in the last three months FOUR sophia's have been born in my town, population 30,000.
so - we'll keep at it. because lord knows we aren't really going to stick with peyote moose.

neices and nephews, oh my!

i have the cutest nieces and nephews - period.

my nephew jordan is not thrilled that i'm knocked up. you see internet, my husband and i have been his sole sorce of nintendo wii for quite some time. he loves us because he knows that pretty much whenever he asks he can come over and stay up all night, eat junk food until he pukes and play wii. now that we will soon have a little wii-player of our own - he's concerned he won't get as much playing time. i love him... he's so silly (as pictured above, victoriously opening his 12 pack of moutain dew on christmas eve). i promised to love him no matter how many kids kevin and i have - and i will. because he's stinkin adorable. :)

now... that said - my niece kenedy is completely opposite. she loves this baby. even now in it's magnificent gummy bear state. each time i see her she puts her little hands on my growing belly and says, "ohhhhh! i felt it! i felt the baby move!" and you know what's crazy - is i think in her mind she really might! of course i don't feel anything yet... but i humor her. :) she is dead set on the baby being a girl. she's sure. and - she's named her too. her name is annabelle. it's actually pretty cute, no? anyway - yesterday she said to me, "auntie kenzie, can i have your baby? please?" i looked at her and replied, "hmmm... will you take good care of it?" and she said, "ohhh yes, i will. i promise." so... i said, "ok. if i don't like it i will give it to you." she did this girly little scream and this little happy dance. it was adorable. i love love love my neices and nephews! :)
ok but seriously - aren't they the stinkin cutest ever? i'm in love. :)
